Soil / Sediments Remediation

" ADVANCED BIOTECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES FINALISED TO REMEDIATE POLLUTED SOILS AND SEDIMENTS "

IDRABEL Italia S.r.l. fields of activity include also the treatment of soils and sediments polluted by mineral oils, hydrocarbons, chlorine and aliphatic products, organic compounds, aromatic and poly-cyclic products.
The basic principle of the remediation technologies that IDRABEL has designed, realised and applied successfully consists in the transformation of the pollutants in harmless by-products, such as carbon dioxide and water.
These activities involve the use of natural biological products, that are properly customised, metered and applied according to the specific treatment that must be carried out. The advantages deriving from the application of such compounds are undoubted and various, since they allow to carry out effective, rapid, economic, safe and environmentally friend treatments.

Main advantages related with the biotechnological treatments that IDRABEL Italia S.r.l. has designed to remediate polluted soils and sediments

The main advantages that can be obtained applying the in situ bioremediation treatments that IDRABEL Italia S.r.l. proposes in order to remediate polluted soils and sediments consist in :

  • fast action ;
  • thorough degradation of the pollutants ;
  • simultaneous multiple activity, due to the presence of several bacterial strains properly selected on the basis of the pollutant to be removed;
  • more resistance to toxins;
  • no handling of the matrix to be treated;
  • no need of employing particular mechanical equipments;
  • no need of having wide areas for the jobs;
  • significant reduction of wastes to be disposed (dredged and/or excavated);
  • less “environmental troubles” (foul odours, impact and environmental unbalance, difficulty in carrying out the jobs, etc.);
  • signicant lower costs;
  • lower risk / higher safety for the personnel ;
  • lower requirement for equipments and labour.

The bacterial strains contained in IDRABEL products carry out a synergic degradation action on the organic and hydrocarbon pollutants coming from industrial and civil processes. The combination of surfactants, nutrients and micro organisms makes these products particularly suitable to be used in order to remove and degrade a lot of pollutants that usually are present in polluted sites because of accidental leakages and spills :

  • Hydrocarbons with carbon chains ranging from C-5 to C-40 ;
  • Benzene, xylene e toluene ;
  • TCE ;
  • PAH ;
  • PCB and other chlorinated compounds ;
  • Fuel oils ;
  • Fossil fuels : gasoline, diesel, aviation gas ;
  • MTBE ;
  • condensate leakage from pipelines ;
  • grease, oils and organic matter ;
  • etc.
